Spending time with a 3 year old

It occured to me today, although it didn't come as a shock but the time I am happiest is when I am with my son.
He turned 3 years old in July this year so is now 3 years and 5 months and at such a fantastic age.

Since he has turned 3 these are the things I have noticed -

He insists that on all occasions he is a 'big boy' so that means, no more helping to get dressed, helping to get things from cupboards or lending a hand in anyway as he is fiercely independent!

His character is getting larger and his urge to entertain everyone is growing...this can sometimes lead to some silly behaviour and showing off so we have to keep an eye on it!

Our relationship continues to blossom, he has always been quite a mummys  boy but we have developed a friendship where we enjoy each others company and share in each others jokes.

Since learning he is going to be a big brother he has included the baby bump into our family! Was so mature about it all and wanted to ask questions we were happy to answer. He has attended a midwife appt and is due to attend the scan next Thursday.

He is a mini me, although he looks just like his daddy he is such a reflection of me, sensitive, a worrier, a people pleaser and never wants people to know he is upset. I hope to help him with these things as they are things I do not deal with too well.

Today

Today was a particularly enjoyable day with my son. We didnt head off to do anything exciting but spent the day at home together.

We woke up and read stories in bed, then headed down for some breakfast...

Thought it might be nice to watch a Christmas film as it is fast approaching so we watched Arthur Christmas which we both laughed at!

We then raided the playroom for some toys and games to play and selected some!
Here we are enjoying them...

The purpose of this post was to capture what it is that I love about my life at this precise moment in time- I would happily spend each day in my sons company as his love and presence is so pure and unconditional.
Truly a blessing I hope in march when I start my maternity leave to relish all the time I have with my son ready for our new arrival in april.

Starting at the beginning

My first post on my first 'own' blog... a way of me documenting my thoughts and feelings and recording milestones.

After a difficult year I am stripping back to talking about the things that matter so much to me in my life... my family.

I am blessed to have a little boy who is my pride and joy.

My son

Together we are like peas in a pod and I can honestly say he is my 'best friend'
I adore him, but that doesn't mean he is without his challenges. I try and do as much as I can with my little man but it is hard when you have to be a working mum especially with a demanding job.

2013 is a big year for us. Little man is due to head off to big school in September and so decisions for which one he is going to attend are underway and must be confirmed in January!
We will find out in April where he will be going in September, but he would have just turned 4 in July. A few anxieties around this that I need to work on...but are you really ever ready to let your little one go off to school?

 Number 2

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second baby and am overjoyed!

Baby number 2 or 'cheeky weeky' as my son calls him/her is due in April 2013 and we have been spending time talking lots about our new arrival.

My next scan is 20th December! I can't wait to find out the sex of our baby and our little man will be joining us.

Stay tuned to find out if we are expecting another blue baby or a red baby (as my friends say) as I am not a girlie girl.

Thanks for reading.
